Welcome to the #AllRise Essay Contest!

To celebrate National “Theatre in Our Schools Month,” the Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird, Aaron Sorkin’s new play, directed by Bartlett Sher, and based on Harper Lee’s classic novel, has launched a nationwide Student Essay Contest.

American school students in grades 7-12, who are 13 years of age or older, are invited to record and submit a video essay on the topic of “What To Kill a Mockingbird Means to Me.” A specially assembled panel of judges will select a winning entrant, who, with their immediate family, will be flown to New York City to attend a special student matinee performance of To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway. 

The winning essayist will be invited to present their essay on the Shubert Theatre stage, immediately following the performance they attend, for the audience and invited press and will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship.

Open to U.S. & DC residents 13 and older enrolled in grades 7-12 in a public, private, parochial or homeschool.  Void where prohibited.  Limit 1 entry per person.
